The parent take

Western-themed playground (fort, wagons, faux mining town) at the base of a real 2,846-foot peak you can hike with kids. Mountains Edge area; go at 7-9am in July, 1-2 hours.

Clark County park in Mountains Edge featuring an Old West-themed playground, covered picnic areas, and a short switchback trail to the top of Exploration Peak with valley views. One of the most distinctive playgrounds in the southwest valley.

Know before you go

Zero water features and limited shade on the trail — mornings only in summer, and bring more water than you think. The peak walk is doable for steady 4-year-olds.
